On 27.8.2023, a significant rockslide impacted the Maurienne Valley, determining the closure of the Tunnel du Fréjus and the railway line connecting France and Italy.
The closure of the railway line lasted for about 19 months, strongly impacting European traffic flows.
The Département de Savoie, SNCF Reseau and SFTRF exploited their best human resources, organizations and know-how to design, plan and implement the important site activities aiming at the reopening of the line.
On 15.5.2025, A workshop shall be held in Modane (France) to get aware of what really happened in August 2023 and of the extraordinary measures implemented by the Dept. Savoie and SNCF R to reopen the Tunnel Routier and the railway line.
It will be possible to participate in the workshop, sending an email to info@medrfc.eu,
specifying whether you’ll participate in person or online, by 25.4.2025.
Due to the limitations of meeting room seats, only the first 30 participants will be admitted in person, in Modane.
