Landslide in the Maurienne Valley-update of 6/7/2024

Landslide in the Maurienne Valley

The Savoie department is currently fully mobilized to secure the Praz cliff and enable SNCF Réseau to start the work needed to reopen traffic. The next few weeks will be decisive to set a reliable date for reopening the line. In the meantime, Modane station is once again being served by SNCF Voyageurs until 24 August, which means that the bus journey between Paris and Milan will be shorter. Another piece of good news is that SNCF Réseau has been able to bring forward planned and necessary work on the Mont-Cenis, Rieux-Roux, and Saint-Antoine tunnels, as well as carrying out track regeneration work between Montmélian and Saint-Michel-de-Valloire. You can read all about it in the latest SNCF’s new newsletter.
