The first “cooled” train is now fact on the route Rotterdam-Valencia, on May 6 2019, the first temperature-controlled train left Rotterdam on the way to Valencia to be loaded with fresh products.
The new rail freight service follows many years of preparations by collective shippers’ group CoolRail, which is an initiative of Euro Pool System.
The new train service (direct link three times a week) meets the growing market demand for fresh fruits and vegetables, which constitute a large portion of cargo moving from Spain to Northern Europe, drastically reducing the CO2 emissions of the transport.
This new rail link is the beginning of a network of fresh products transports with reduced carbon footprint and increased sustainability.
